I have had a letter from my Bike Insurance company (Equity Red Star) saying that there has been a notification from the C&UE database and they need to further validate my information.

Is this something that anyone else on here has come across before?
They are asking for my NCB Details (policy number & exp Date etc...), but also a copy of my V5C and both parts of my driving licence.
Now, I have never had a claim on a bike policy and the new bike I have insured is clear from everything (My brothers old bike, he has had for 3 years which he bought from a dealer, it's a 2004 '04 plate).

To me it just sounded strange that they wanted a copy of my V5C?

My concern is that this is legit, and not an elaborate scam - has anyone else had any notification about a hit on the C&UE database?

You can do the same to them if you like under the Data Protection Act, but it'll cost a tenner.
