Ive been sharing the misses car for a while now but will be buying my own shortly, but am still undecided. ive got about 6 and a half grand to spend. Wont to get something fast and fun without the mpg being terrible or the insurance being sky high?!? something along the lines of a leon cupra r225 or toyota corolla tte compressor, any input or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I can't speak for the Toyota. But the Leon is a great car. I used to work seat and they were always very reliable, they are made by vw and basic chasis is the same as the golf so you can expect similar performance. Have a look at the skoda octavia as well. Might be a bit bigger but you will get alot more for your money.

You can't really wrong with either. Just personal preference.

Nearly £7k for a less pretty audi TT? Am I missing something? You could buy a pair of Leons for that money and keep one for parts.

Depends what you are after.

If you want a car that is quite sedate when going slow with the family but can still be fun when you are out on your own for a thrash then I would suggest the Civic Type R. I used to have one and it was fantastic. Very cheap to run, very reliable. Lacking in toys and luxury but that keeps it quite light compared to the competition.

Alternatively, if you want something with more torquey power delivery and a softer drive then look at the S3, Cupra R etc.

Yes you are. I reckon these - in good condition - will hold their value very well over the years as they are sought after, it's not as obvious as a TT. Especially this one with low miles.

Its a 1 owner car with low miles which I suppose explains the price.

A few suggestions...

E46 323/325/330 Coupe
RX-8 (maybe too high running costs)
Golf 2.0 GT (sensible option but still 150 bhp)

That S3 looks absolutly spot on !!!! Great spec and condition, with low miles. Massage the price a bit, and try for a good comprehensive warrenty and that'll be a great buy for someone.

How about a Brabus ForFour. Should find one in budget. Quite rare but look nice IMO and hold their money fairly well. 1.5t so quite good on fuel but with 170+ hp quite rapid too. Think they remap to around 210hp. Practical too.
