And restore with a M3 motor and modern running gear?

Damn I need a workshop.

I'd prefer to see a 3.8l from an E34 M5 going in there but either way, it'd be awesome. Good project

prefer the rat look... just for ultimate sleeper mode.... would get round to restoring the body shell at some stage.

It is, unless you have the time, space and money to do it properly, otherwise you may as well copy and paste the advert on Ebay next year after looking out on to your drive and it is still there turning in to the wind.

Who lets a car like that get in to that state?

That's nothing. Just replace every panel, the interior, the entire rolling chassis, and replace the engine & transmission, and you'll be back on the road in no time.

I'd put aside 3 weekends and budget about £1.5k max.

Must admit I shed a tear looking at the pics just because it saddens me that people have let that beautiful classic get to such a state!

Back on topic though I reckon for something like that it's gotta be N/A straight six all the way with barely silenced exhaust and some properly naughty suspension and wheels so that when you put the hammer down you leave just about everything behind wink.

For the exterior I reckon deep metallic black or blue and no fiddling about with it either smooth and classy just like it was originally. It'd make a great sleeper biggrin
