Taxing Car Online - When do I apply to get tax for March 1st

As title. I don't want to do it too early and have them take a month off me. I can't remember the process, so is there an option to start the tax from the next month?

Usually (unless you're renewing a disc) the disc starts from the 1st day of the month you are already in.

I think you can apply up to 14 days in advance, and it will automatically start from the 1st day of the next month.

I had my track car on SORN over the winter and decided to put it back on the road from 1st February.

Thieving bds at DVLA wouldn't allow the usual two business day lead time for ordering the new disc online though, earliest I could order the disc was 1st February itself. They then gave a warning, in bold, not to drive the car on the road until the disc was displayed.

Useless fking thieving bds. I had to pay for something I couldn't use.

You should have a reminder come through with a reference number. Just had mine, paid up and the tax disc continues for 12 months from the current disc date.
