What are these dots???

What on earth are all the dots in the sky? Lens wasn't that dirty.... and I'm getting them on other pictures. Not sure about lens though as I haven't checked that yet. But I have seen these dots on my previous body and different lens.

It's dust on your sensor.

There was a thread last week about cleaning the sensor, have a read of it before attempting to do it yourself though.

As above. Don't head in with a mop and bucket! You'll notice they are a lot worse depending on the f stop. A camera blower helps (a lot), but I send my camera off every year to get the sensor pro cleaned.

The rest of the time I spend cloning them out.

Out of interest, when was it last cleaned, or how long have you had the camera....that is shockingly bad.

It depends on camera body, lens, how often changed, where changed... if the camera was ALWAYS pointing down and off when changed etc... I change lenses a lot and mine gets that bad after 18 months if I don't get it cleaned.

yeah, it's my f22 pictures this afternoon that have problems.

sensor has never been cleaned (camera has to be 4 years old as a guess), but the fstop is why i've never really noticed it as I rarely shoot f22.

here is one slightly further on at f5.6.

That's about the worst I've ever seen. Just for lulz take a photo of the sky with an aperture of f/16 or f/32 and post it on here

I had a similar problem, bought a Rocket Blower from Amazon. No more spots.
I can bring it on Saturday if you've not sorted out the problem before then.

Much less noticeable at 5.6

I took about 20,000 pics last year on a 1d4 changing lenses all the time, in some very harsh (dusty and dirty) environments, but as GetCarter said...camera is ALWAYS off and pointing downwards.

As for hdr, yeah i know, turning in your grave etc. But I like the results lol. These are purposefully shot as hdr today as I wanted the bleak weather which rather matches my mood this afternoon.

Yeah, please do bring it. I doubt I'll get much time before then. Got a bit of a car shoot tomorrow, so i'll back off the hdr and fstops.

Take a shot of a blank piece of white paper (dial in sopme + ev) , focus doesnt matter, shoot at f22.

It was the f22 that did it. The smaller the aperture the more the dust bunnies appear. Or in your case, dust-herd-of-elephants
