Last nights Zonda lap got me thinking.....

The Zonda went around in 1.08, how would that compare with a modern F1. Do you think the F1 would be much faster. Would be interesting to see!!

Zonda R wouldn't get near an F1 car. It might be an awesome machine but nothing gets close to the cornering ability and power to weight of an F1 car. Group C got close to F1 - look at the Zonda R time for the Nordschleif - 6:47, Bellof did it in a 956 in 6:11, a modern F1 car would be even faster still (suspension and track permitting)

Didn't occasionally-quick Nick take a BMW around a few years back? All be it on odd suspension settings, must be a time kicking around for that somewhere?

Ah-ha, apparently it was demonstration laps only on hard tyres and very high suspension with two "slow" corners a lap for press pictures and he was never allowed to do a full flying lap. Apparently, according to estimated times and observations about in lap speeds it was estimated to be anywhere between 5.50 and 6.15, looking at that and with the car setup right surely an F1 car would break the 6 minute barrier?

I think that was on road legal tyres and in road trim, whereas the Zonda was on slicks.

Group C look at the speed of it then watch the Zonda in Car, the cornering speeds arn't to dis-similar the straight line speed and power out of the corners is far greater though........

Zonda R matched the DBR9 GT1 car from a few series back.
