Morning all. Time to consult the Oracle that is the PH massive because, if they cant solve this problem I am buggered and face a weekend of hell .

I don't know if anyone can help me but I have a dilema that I cant seem to sort. Basically it's this. We are running Tiscali ADSL. This works fine using the modem that they supply. however, being a bloke I want to use the ADSL anywhere in the house I like - seen the adds on the TV so it was a must have. I bought a Belkin 802.11g wireless router and fitted an NIC in the PC. Now the problem starts. The ADSL plugs into the router and the relevent lights light and the NIC does also. However, I cant get the ADSL seen by the PC. I have setup the router as per the instructions supplied with the router. The only thing that may be wrong is perameter settings. I have set it up using POPoE as I am using an Ethernet card to connect the router to the PC. the VPI/VCT settings are alreadt there - 0/35. My laptop see's the router so the problem is not there, or at least I dont think it is. Has anyone come accros this problem before.

Thanks in anticipation

Dave

All ADSL in this country uses PPPoA not PPPoE - try using that setting instead.

Sorry if my earlier comment was a tad brief, was just about to leave for work, and thought I'd throw on a quick reply.

PPPoA and PPPoE describe the methods used to connect you across the ADSL infrastructure, and not how you connect the router to your PC.

PPP is the Point to Point Protocol (was originally designed for dial-up communications) and sets up essentially a circuit between two machines.

PPPoE does the same but on top of an ethernet network instead of the serial data stream used in dial-up.

PPPoA is the same but on top of an ATM network.
