I'm running both of these and normally get very regular up dates, particulary ad-aware, but I haven't had any recently. Any idea if here's a bug/virus or somesuch that is targeting these programs .

Ad-aware is currently at ref file : 01R298 20.04.2004 i.e 10 days old, anyone have anything later, or the same .

Spybot S&D last update was 4 march 04 and gives an error when trying to get an update .

Any ideas from Techies out there, it'll be much appreciated, even if its to say no problem ;D.

Same date as mine, but I don't get errors if I try to update.

I had a new Ad-Aware reference file on the 28th (01R300). My Spybot currently scans for 14564 items, but I haven't had an update for quite a while. Don't get any errors when checking for updates though.

Cheers for that, exactly what I thought was happening. I've just checked within Ad awre and it seems whwn check inside the status the update has failed as well. I have removed and reloaded the prog but still the same any ideas. I also briefly shut down the firewall and tried again to see if that was blocking it, agian no difference. Anyone know whats going on .

Harry,
Not sure if it helps but I downloaded the latest reference files for both just now.

Ad-aware is 01R300 28.04.2004

Not sure how to check the Spybot version but it currently scans 12481 files.

HTH.

Harry,

You should have Adware version 6.181 This version updates properly and is faster than the old builds. Spybot Search & Destroy latest version is 1.3 rc 5

The both of them should get most (not all..) of the stuff out of your computer.

Sorted out the Ad-aware one, the host file was not directing it to the correct IP, used this little vb programe to find out the details http://members.shaw.ca/techcd/VB_Projects/HostsFileReader.exe still can't update spybot though . will keep on trying to find out why though.

Latest spybot file I have is dated 4th March 2004. When I do an update I just get a message saying "No newer updates available". I don't use adaware.
