I've got a fair amount of spair time on my hands at the minute, what driving game should I get?

The last few I had were Colin McRae 3 and Need for Speed Underground, I fancy something a bit different really.

If you have an XBOX get Project Gotham Racing 2 or Moto GP2.

Toca Race Driver 2?

Splinter Cell 2 is superb, and apparently Far Cry is great as well (not played it myself yet).

If you have a decent net connection, Unreal Tournament 2004 is great!

Be warned that UT2004 can get boring real quick.

But since you asked about driver games try grand prix legends if you want ultimate realism.

I know what you mean about UT2k4, it's all quite samey.

Colin McRae4 is quite good. Uses some of the tracks from CMR03, but better graphics, better physics & better all round.

In the last month I bought Battlefield Vietnam that I got bored with quite quickly (very samey) So I bought Far Cry and find that better. I just got Toca Race Driver 2 from play.com v. cheap and played that last night. Some types of racing are very good - like the Seat's, others are impossible, like the truck racing.

Another Vote for Farcry here.

Played excellently, even on the Laptop.

I found the truck racing one of the easier ones. Slow and boring, but fairly easy.

My favorite so far has to be the Classic cars series with the E-type.

Yeah their great. Wallowy handling (like the real thing for yesteryear) and Brands is THE circuit to do it on.

I can't get passed the rallye stages though, it does help if you are Markko Martin. Very impressive graphics and screenplay.

Postal 2 is cheap & relatively amusing tho' may be lacking any more than short term appeal. Worth it for anti PC ness alone IMHO. Reviews ripped it apart but I enjoyed it.

Wait for GTR to come out, it'll be worth it

Or if you have Broadband get GPL and all the updates.

I agree. I have UT2004 on my PC and it gets a little repetitive. I'll have to try some mods though, now.

If by Rally stages you mean the ones in Spain, you need to ignore the brakes, only use the handbrake after you have turned the car, steer with the throttle most of the time and if you hit anything just restart.

A bit lik eth eColin McRae games you need to slow down a bit (most people go far to mad) and be very smooth.

But the do drive you mad, still I got past them so with practice and a bit of luck you should be OK.

Toca, what a fantastic game!!!

I didnt find the rally stages that hard!
They seemed hard at first because I was playing it like CM4, The instructions on the corners are perfect but in the stages in Toca there are many red corners you can do almost flat in third!!

No need for handbrakes just be smooth and fast.
I spun once and still won the stage.
Mind you i dont know if you guys have been trying to do it with a joypad!

Good Luck

Grand Prix legends, and Spotscar GT. You need nothing more.
