Chassis's Back! The work begins....

Got the chassis back, shotbalsted, welded and painted. Now begins the task of getting it together again before SCH....

Well spotted phillpot! Was going to go for powdercoating but for various reasons ended up with etch primed on bare metal, two sprayed coats of hamerite and then a third coat brushed on for good measure. Really pleased with the result, looks great (well I think so) and should do the trick for a good few years.

Have also given all areas which can't be seen with body on a really thick coat of waxoil as well since this photo taken. Engine and gearbox in last night, will post some more pics soon.

The curtains stop the gale that comes thru the door in winter (well a bit anyway) Most important thing is the beer fridge !!

Bodywork is red so gone for a bit of a contrast, reckon it will look pretty good.

Looks great. You must be tempted to give the top of that engine a bit of a polish while you can get at it all.

So, engine, fuel system, cooling etc all in waiting for body on. unfortunately Steve heath still waiting for full polybush suspension set, so I'm waiting too. I think the body will have to go in first then the suspension will go in afterwards. Slightly harder but at least I can couple up everything else, get the car started again and ready to go. Effectively I'll be getting to 'partial' body off stage waiting for the suspension parts to be made. I think it's worth waiting for the polybush back end, rather than the rubber currently available. Let's hope it's not too long!

Is the radiator in upside down? I'd expect the pegs showing in the picture to be going through grommeted holes in the chassis and for there to be an air bleed valve at the top nearside - assuming that the S1 had them.
