Genuinely confused...
Discussion
So I was watching the news last night, and it got to the bit where Clegg was talking to the students.
I shall paraphrase........
Student: You broke your promise on student fees, how do you sleep at night?
Clegg: We didn't win the election, so we had to compromise.
Student: (much shaking of head and eye rolling) How can we trust you ever again?
Clegg: We didn't win the election and we had to compromise - have you read the Governments proposals?
Student: (much shaking of head and eye rolling) we trusted you. You said you would abolish fees
Clegg: We didn't win the election. Have you read the proposals? You'll actually be better off than you were under the old system viz repayments! Do you realise the mess labour left the country in?
Student: (much shaking of head and eye rolling) You've trippled fees and it will be hanging over me for the rest of my life!
Clegg: We didn't win the election and we had to compromise - have you actually read the proposals? You'll be better off than you were under the old system viz repayments! do you realise the mess labour left the country in? Your debts are written off after 30 years anyway. A large % will never repay their entire loan
Student: (much shaking of head and eye rolling) How can we trust you ever again?
Repeat ad nauseam..
So I'm confused. Genuinely confused. You see, I presume the BBC, when it assembled this student panel, picked representatives who had actually read the Government proposals and could therefore engage in the debate. Sadly it looked instead as though they had simply picked a bunch of spoilt loud mouths who did not know their subject and who were simply hell bent on not listening to anything they were told. Bizarrely most seemed to have been spoon fed the Nu Labour line, which they vomited out like some intestinal tourrets... How could professional broadcasters like the BBC have made such an error in selecting the panel?

This is where you went wrong, you had a belief that the BBC was a professional broadcaster seeking to present balanced news etc - a belief based on how the BBC used to operate. Yet these days it is more sensationalism and, if you want to really take a look at how it works, check out the ways in which AGW is prevailent throughout BBC shows - pension protection mode ON there......Fittster said:

All the students studying/sleeping/partying rather than those wanting their little moment of militancy. The NUS-types have always been militant and generally ignored by most students.Fittster said:

Nobody is like forced to go to university, like.
Hence why the price hike seems fair. If you want something, you pay for it.Health care and education should be given free to all, to a point where a person can lead a healthy life and are educated to a level where they can obtain a job with a decent enough wage for them to survive. But you don't NEED university for that kind of life. University is an aid to a higher level of life in most cases, and therefore should be paid for if you personally wish to go.
