Do you plank your meat ?
Discussion
Whilst looking for something to do with a nice bit of fillet steak, I found something on Epicurious that I had not seen before...planking meat !

Other than my horror at the use of "slather" as a word associated with Porcini, I had not come across this before.
Should I go for these...

Rather than a bit of two-b'four from Champions ?

£40 for a bit of wood?
Yes, I know. But the stuff at Wickes is treated with chemicals (as is the £40 plank of cedar, no doubt).
Going to a timber merchant holds the same degree of fear for me that I imagine some people have in vintners.
"What sort of wine are you after sir ?"
"Er, red ?"
"Any idea where from, sir ?"
"Er, grapes ?"
Same with hardware shops...
"Ere, Bob, bloke here wants a 2" slot headed screw in ..... zinc plate"
"hahaha"

I used to work in a hardware store whilst at Sixth form."Ere, Bob, bloke here wants a 2" slot headed screw in ..... zinc plate"

"Can i have a plug please?" said the customer with an electrical screwdriver in his pocket.
I'd retrieve a bath plug, sink plug and a few rawplugs, place them on the counter and ask exactly which plug he required.
I never did have anyone ask for four candles.
