We're looking for a new car, and don't really care what it is, but it must be cheap(ish).
We're after something Focus/Astra sized, and none of the 'lesser' brands (well, no lesser than Ford/Vauxhall, anyway!).
So is there anything about?
Why not get something a bit more premium and a few years old for same money - it'll also have taken its big slide down the depreciation chute already too... 1 series / A3 etc. We're after something Focus/Astra sized, and none of the 'lesser' brands (well, no lesser than Ford/Vauxhall, anyway!).

VW introduced a value model of the Golf at the end of last year, the Twist, which is basically an S with Alloys, Armrest, Uprated stereo and iPod prep. You can get a 5dr stock model with metallic paint for £12,995 from here - http://www.dealdrivers.co.uk/html/vw.html
Pretty good value for money for a family hatchback IMO

k all in 3 years
Slightly O/T. Has the new Vauxhall lifetime/100k mile warranty affected residuals? Edit : Dont buy a Vauxhall , it will be worth f

I understand you have to be the first owner to qualify for the warranty. I'm wondering if that includes discounted 'pre-registered' vehicles at the dealer?

New focus out soon so deals to be had on the current model. Vauxhall have replaced the 5 door astra so deals to be had on nearly new 5 doors, 3 door replacement on its way so deals to be had on new 3 doors astra's.
A friend recently knocked over a grand off of a Kia picanto (paid £6k) a week later a different dealer was advertising the same model for £5400 and no doubt there would be some breathing room at that price to, all due to the new picanto on its way this year. I think anything about to be replaced by a new model will have huge amounts knocked off (£7000 off list for the focus, according to the sun motors section last week) and dont just take the first half decent deal you see, check out other dealers in the area.

Plenty of deals offering "£6k" off a Focus. The list price is a joke. Surely no-one pays £18k+ for a bog standard Focus.
