How to get an AGREED car valuation
Discussion
hi guys,
i have recently spent a lot of money on my sag a want to know how i can get an agreed vehicle valuation so i can present this to my insurance.
reason for this is because when my car was involed in the fire a TVR Power it was more complex getting what i belived to be the value of the car, the assesor did say in the future to have a agreed valuation on your car to make life easier.
cheers

Sorry if its stating the obvious, but you need an agreed value policy. I have one through Classicline, although I'm not sure whether insurers do this type of policy for relatively modern cars (i.e. less than 10 years old). With my insurer, its a self certification process involving several photos, and simple condition questionnaire, not forgetting the list of modifications of course. This only applies to values up to £20K IIRC, and I expect that yours is far higher. In these cases, you would need a reputable person (pro TVR vehicle inspector maybe) or a TVR specialist dealer to certify the value. Forget the TVRCC - they have not provided this service for several years due to cost issues with obtaining PI cover.
I have my car insured through Manning and have an agreed value an headed paper from my TVR specialist.
It is definitely worth getting this done as there are not many cars worth what Parkers / Glasses suggest as most have now fallen into the hands of enthusiasts and looked after as such.

took mine to David Gerald TVR (now in Redditch so probably not too far from you) they put it up on the ramp, had a look around then typed me out an valuation letter and all for just a tenner.
My insurers required such a letter, they would not accept "my valuation" and a couple of photo's which I thought quite reasonable, lets face it you can look through the classifieds and plenty of 6-7k Chimaeras look as good as 10k + cars from the pictures.

Same here, insured with Mannings for the first time this year. Insisted on an agreed value policy. They were happy to take a letter on headed paper from Fernies who I bought the car from originally along with 3 photos of the car. I'll certainly be doing this on an annual basis if values keep heading upwards as they seem to be doing currently. I wouldn't consider insuring it now without an agreed value.
I was doing the insurance rounds recently and some insurers wanted a valuation from someone who had no vested interest in the car - that meant in their terms that the place where you get it serviced, etc. can't do it as they have an interest (seems strange to me!) so if they want an independent valuation check who can do it.
