M11 backs up heading in to the camera going south & then backs up round to the A12. What time & which direction?

say 8am? I think this may become a bike commute rather than the car... so how long would it take to get to the end of the A406 onto the A13 ?

To be honest I've never sat in it but see it coming the other way. By 8 it won't be good heading towards the camera but you may not have to queue to long at the A12 junction if you're not taking it (you'll see what I mean when you pass it). I'm not sure what the A13 A406 junction is like at that time but from an educated guess I would say not good.

Hopefully some one will come along with more accurate information & maybe an alternative route or two. Taking your bike for the first time wouldn't be a bad idea.

M11 to A406 is a serious pita most days, did the commute from Stansted to Redbridge for years, at 8 am Its probably at the peak of the rush hour there,

Its not only the junction there that is the problem, but the A406, A12, A13 all being ontop of eachother in that area, you have a minor problem on one of the roads it causes hours, and i really mean hours of traffic, its a horrendous journey i would avoid at all costs.

To be honest thats the reason I packed my bags and moved back up north, my 30 mile commute that way could take anything up to 4 hours some days.

If I could i would find an alternate route

I think you'd be wise to go by bike. At that time of day the M11 is normally tailed back from Loughton down to the Redbridge roundabout on the A12. Once you are on the A406 you can do the A13 in about 10minutes on a good day to 30 on a bad one although it's mainly OK.

One word for that time of day PANTS. Used to do it daily in a truck for 5 years and if I wasn`t through there by 7.15am it was an absolute mare. Seriously you could not be going that route at a worse time of day, One little bump between Beckton and Redbridge and it can soon be queueing back to the 25.

hi all, and thanks for replying.

I have a job interview in Dagenham (near 1306 junction). I'm happy to get there for 11am.... but am seriously worried about what happens *if* I were to be employed.

The 'long way round' on the M25 adds 10 miles each way, and still has the problem of the A13 westbound.

Am beginning to thing this one isn't a go-er. Hope the job centre understands. I can't see me leaving home later than 6am, and getting home earlier than 7pm for this one. Very sad. may need to sit this out and wait for another opportunity.

You can go across country from Epping. You can pick your way through either Fiddlers Hamlet or Theydon Bois to Abridge, pick up the A112 & follow that down. I have no idea what the traffic is like at that time but may be worth a try.

ETA..I've just realised you said the M25 so come off at J.26 to pick up the A112 would be far better. I got the impression that you were coming from Harlow way.

For Dagenham I'd forget that route altogether and take the M25>A13 westbound, which is surprisingly decent even at peak time of 8am. M25 can get clogged up in the run up to the tolls but there's a few alternative routes you can take to reach the A13 by coming off at the A127. For a guaranteed 11am arrival @ Dagenham, I'd leave around 10.15am and I'm 10miles east of the M25 on the A13 - otherwise, what about public transport?

oh wow, how confusing. Interview was good. Now I don't know if I can take the travel at the usual hours, gonna be a long time in the car... so bike it may have to be for most of the year.

Thanks for all the helpful options, if I get the job I'll have plenty of time to try them all! smile
