No real reason for this post, perhaps a warning!

I'm on the m40 at j10 and there has been a crash with two cars and a gas tanker, apparently the tanker is overturned!

They have closed the m40 and apparently it will be closed for "some hours"

The police are diverting people off at j10, I am under the bridge, just past j10 slip road, I only came on the m40 for 5 miles/ 1 junction!

I'm hungry

As a side nite, the sliproad onto the motorway is completely clear, there will be a highways agency car at the top blocking the slip road, would I get in trouble for driving up it?

Yup, you'll get in trouble driving up it. More than that, they probably won't let you off anyway. I did a similar thing (but reversed up the slip road about 20 metres as I was the last car before it was closed) and had to wait until the traffic police had the OK before they let anyone past.

So that's why it's so quiet. I join it at J8 southbound and wondered why I was the only one there - it was almost a 28 days later moment!

Glad I decided to work from home today then! Although I would have been passing there at 07:00... so may have even been involved in it lol

AA website says "expected to open from 1.00pm". Possibly enough time to learn to "knap" (make flint tools/weapons by chipping bits off...), but maybe better to have a nap.

Good luck...

Surely if they've closed the motorway they should be able to turn the cars around and make them drive off the motorway at the previous junction?

Not without potentially endangering a kitten in sub Saharan Africa.

Unfortunately someone lost their life in this accident, I saw the wreckage as i was travelling in the other direction, not a pretty sight.

I went over the bridge just above the accident about half 9, luton van embedded in the back of the tanker and a 7.5 tonner in which a guy died was embedded in the back of the luton van.
