I never owned one, but 2 friends did. I drove one to the 'ring and drove it to amsterdam.

Cracking car for nailing around europe. Will do 140 pretty easy, and did push 150 at some points. Very very comfy and quiet. Just not really a hot hatch. They are just nippy in a straight line (wouldn't call them fast, and don't handle amazing, but again this is over hyped on the internet).

It had to have a turbo at 40k miles. But other friend had one, and his turbo didn't need replacing until 73k miles. But I think that is just to do with lack of maintenance. Parts are cheap on them as well. Like a normal hatch back, unlike my megane f1 where brakes/tyres etc are very expensive.

Had the cruise on for about a hour at 90 and it average 30 mpg. (would be abit less in england due to the hills and stuff).

Mate of mine had one. Great engine. Awful awful chassis. Understeer madness and huge torque steer. Bland interiors. I didn't like the seats, but I'm a bit particular that way.

Not my cup of tea.

Hey Danny

I used to own the coupe version. Pretty much as above, very quick in a straight line, quiet and comfy. Though i found there was so much cheap plastic inside that everything rattled! Was ok in the corners when pushed, though the biggest thing was definitely the straight line speed that i remember.

Wasn't really my cup of tea so i sold it after only a couple of months, but prices will probably have come down a lot by now and i'm sure there was a big parts supply when i owned mine too which will be handy.

Cheers for the advice did look at the Astra H models as well but judging on the amount of problems they have had a look at the earlier cars instead wonder how well it would cope with the A4069yikes

Had one from 3 yo, sold it cause I was worried leaving it anywhere!
I'm now looking for another as the price is about right, although there are still some jokers looking for showroom money.
Coupe Turbo have the same engine, and I think slightly better handling, but the missus has one so I can't have the same!
Phase3 is pretty easy, std turbo normally goes at 60k, but a VXR replacement isn't too bad, and is a good upgrade. Coilovers are cheap if you fancy that route.
Just the colour that's difficult.

Why were you worried about leaving it anywhere? the one I'm looking at is Arden blue

When I had it, it was only three years only and no barryboys had them, it was also the most expensive car I've ever owned so far. I didn't want any car park dinks, etc, and it was also Arden Blue so did stand out, bearing in mind it was the first vx to use that colour.
IMO it's either that colour or black.
