I must admit I hadn't been a fan of the McLaren MP4 12C until I followed one just an hour ago. I initially thought it was a black Ferrari 458 until the driver dabbed the brake pedal. The thin strip brake lights gave the game away. He was also on it, too. He wasn't hanging around as I tried to follow it down from Ascot towards Wentworth. OK, WRX vs MP4 doesn't go but I guessed it was a un-disguised prototype from the matt black paintwork. Dropping the window a tad I could just make out the sound of Ferrari-esque V8 as he kept gunning it away especially round the corners. Nifty driver, mind. Even though it looked like a prototype, what a stunning looking car, albeit from the back. Yes, I'm now converted and am eager to see a full road car up close. Anyone else follwed one of these, and what do you think of the design?

Persnonally I love it, I know it's divided opinions though!.

I'd have one over a 458 every day of the week, although I haven't driven either.

Aesthetically I don't rate in the slightest.

As for how it drives, who knows? I'm getting slightly feed-up with the drip, drip marketing from a Mclaren (Which bit of their non-independent testing of the MP4 12C will show it not only superior to the 458 but sliced bread)

Saw one in a petrol station in the small town of diss, norfolk a few weeks back at 7am! (Thought it was a lambo at first, it was dark blue, lhd, snd unbadged except for 'mclaren' on the calipers (which gave game away to me) and something like 'vp4 prototype' on rear of sill...similar to the prototype numbers on the old f1.wondered if it was on way to borrow the lotus test track in hethel nearby.
