Exhaust question, probably technical

Hi, i know that 2 strokes are fussy when changing exhausts, but,

can i fit any old exhaust to my S2, or will it need some sorting.

My idea was to make a new system, with more ground clearance, so have straight through pipes to the back, with a single Sagaris type silencer.

Any thoughts, thanks.

Don't see why not, it may sound a bit on the loud side but its a try it and see with something like this, ground clearance is where the pipes go under the diff area, where were you going to run them to get more clearance at this point. Where you going to use 2 pipes or 1

The main limiting factor on my S2 was at the front. I don't remember how much scope there was to reroute. How much extra clearance are you hoping to gain? The V8S has much better clearance and you might be better of putting your money towards a trade up to a V8S if this is the only reason for doing the work. For the money you'd get much more power, better brakes, better handling and a newer car.

No idea what a sagaris silencer looks like but this was my first attempt using a new/old stock mild steel V8S system bought off Ebay. Had the longer down pipes bent up by a local tube company, made up a Y piece and from there back is V8S.
Once offered up the n/s tail pipe fouled the lump on the bottom of the fuel tank so tailpipes were cut 'n shut to make them parallel, as a V6 should be.



Sounded good from behind but there was a lot of unpleasant droning, resonance or whatever in the car so the down pipes were shortened and a "Cherry Bomb" fitted,which does ground occaisionally !

Mine has a single silencer but the system is straight through, I have two three inch cans on the back like the V8 and have made some baffles to slot in them to keep it quieter, it is still loud though. You could do all the silencing at the tail pipes though, like an old two stroke baffle.

heres a sagaris silencer for you, the t350 and tamora silencers are the same type of layout.



I don`t think you`d get this under an s unless you could put it in the boot, with the exit pipes aimed out of the sides at peoples knees.

Guessing here Clive but I reckon John was thinking of the Carbon Cans at the end of the Sagaris exhaust not the box.

I do like the sound a cheery bomb makes with a twin tail pipe exhaust, not sure how much room there is under the propshaft.

but he did say "silencer".

there`s not much silencing effect from the rear cans anyway.
