This past week I have been driving like a bell end. Don't know why, but twice now I have got out of the car and thought "your a proper nobber, wtf was all that about?" Its mainly overtaking. None of them poorly timed but the persons I've overtaken where "surprised" shall we say.... I haven't needed to get anywhere quickly either which is why i feel bad about it, so sorry to anyone buzzed by a civic in south kent area this last week.

You could overtake half the population on a perfectly straight NSL road with no other cars in sight apart from them when they were doing 30mph and they'd be suprised these days.

(Oh and I couldn't leave "where" in the quote) smile

I'll forgive you if you promise to start some English lessons.

For a start it's "You're a proper knobber" and "were" not "where".

Well, yes we all are divvies sometimes in cars, but dont beat yourself up too much matey, as there are bigger divs than you out there. Alot of them deserve to be overtaken when they drive like they've still got the handbrake applied, then are tw*tish enought to flash their lights at you.

One of my first rules when I become "man in charge of roads", £60/3 points for causing danger by "Inappropriate slow diving, on perfectly clear roads".

After 16 years of driving I am most ashamed of a stunt I pulled within the last 12 months, I felt really bad afterwards. I have seen other people do worse which eases the burden a little.

Chill out.

Anyone who is truely surprised by an overtake isn't being aware of their surroundings and should be removed from the road.

Yeah, most people aren't even looking in their mirrors. I tend not to overtake where I think surprising someone might cause them to wobble off the road, even where it could potentially be safe to do so, unless I am as certain as I can be that they have seen me. If I have been close behind them, possibly with my headlights on, moving out towards the centre of the road looking for an overtake and they have not seen me, it's their problem not mine. I will minimise the chance of them having an accident, but nothing you can do can elimiate the risk that poor drivers inherently present to themselves.

Even though most people are poor drivers these days, driving aggressively or being a tit just makes you as bad as them, in a different way.
