Discussion
I don't want to wee on anyone's bonfire, but I'm a bit sceptical about Apple's music selling strategy:
While Digital Rights Management isn't necessarily a bad thing, it can be misused by hardware/software manufacturers to prevent legally bought music files from other providers to play on their products.
This forces the consumer to buy at only one provider, and circumvents him to enjoy the benefits of free trade's competition: competitive prices. Who would flog his $$$ harddrive player, when another musicshop offers the songs cheaper?
Well, what does Apple have to do with that?
Apple declined opening their hardware for RealNetwork's DRM files. I don't know if any other DRM'ed files from non-Apple providers work on the ipod.
