What can i get to re attach my rear view mirror?

As title basicaly knocked my rvm off while cleaning my windscreen and now cant get it to stay on iv tried the sticky black pads from halfords and they dont work what else is there?

Contact your local windscreen company and they can bond it on using a special glue. Shouldn't cost much either

After a couple failed attempts with various generic products, this one worked for me.

Try warming up the adhesive (a cigarette lighter normally does the trick) on the pads before sticking them to the glass.

I used it too (elise - didn't know you can take the mirror off with an allen key if you need to!)

You need to make sure the area to which you are sticking the mirror is spotlessly clean. Once it is visibly clean, you should clean the area with white spirit and then clean with water afterwards. Then make sure it is totally dry. Only then will you be able to stick the mirror on and have a hope of it staying put.

If the mirror comes off it's bracket, stick the bracket with the sticky pad on it's own and leave for 24hrs before re-fitting the mirror, or the weight of the mirror will drag the pad off.
If the mirror won't come off the bracket, use a support to hold the weight for a day.

What he said - only use isoprophyl - the agent used for cleaning circuit boards. Then wait for it to evaporate.. - I use this for cleaning mtb brake discs!
If it is very very very clean even the halfords pads will work

I suppose if you are too tight to buy glue you could always try to improvise with anything that comes to hand...

Depends what car/mirror type it is for example, some earlier Fords used a double-sided sticky pad while the other, more common type is a mirror boss to which the mirror assy will fix to. The type of mirror also has a bearing on what type of glue is best.

TBH, the DIY jobbies aren't as good as the professional adhesive systems.
