Different classes aren't they? I'd say the E63 is more of a direct rival to the M5.

To answer your question, I have an E60 5 series and its fantastic, but I badly want a C63 AMG. If I was choosing between the two I'd choose the C63 AMG. Estate for me please - in black.

Know they are technically different classes - but dont really want another 3 series (M3) and the E63 is a bit ugly and also over budget.

I generally lean towards Beemers, but a C63 is pretty much my dream daily driver so I'd have that please...

+1 awesome cars , my dad had either the 3rd or 4th E60 M5 Touring in the country.

The C63 is also a great car but it entirely what sort of driving experience you want etc ......

I've not driven either, but I'd take the C63 I reckon.

That size engine, in that size of car will be a thing of the past in 10 years I reckon - so do it while you can I say.

I am a BMW man through and through, previously owned an e30 m3, e46 m3 , CSL, Z4M Coupe , Z3M Coupe and an E90 M3.

I bought a C63 a few weeks ago with Performance Pack and LSD.

Awesome machine - the grin factor is amazing - haven't enjoyed driving a car this much since my CSL!

The M5 was a potential choice for me but there is just something a tad 'grown up' about the M5.

Plus, the M5 would have been 4 years old whereas the C63 is almost new - albeit a few grand more.

The E60 M5 is awesome but I doubt many have ever heard one strung out and they do look to a lay person not that different from a 520d Msport. The C63 sounds like rolling thunder at normal speeds and is a rare beast on the roads compared to the M5.
