Seeing all the excitement about this new hydrogen fuel that is cheaper then petrol and the utter hatred of electric cars i've come up with a theory

Petrolheads enjoy petrol stations

They enjoy standing in the cold and wet pumping an cancerous explosive fluid into their car followed by standing behind a bunch of idiots buying bananas. Positively looking forward to the moment they hand over their card to get scammed by the government and skimmed by the minimum wage idiot behind the counter.

So do you enjoy petrol stations?

It's the morons that don't move their cars away from the pumps after fuelling and then spend the next 20 minutes shopping and buying lottery tickets that really irritate!

Na. Not a chance. There always overpriced and staffed by "Micklelle" who cant count upto double figures and weighs about as much as the car ive just filled.

Always full of arrogant fkwits who walk upto the front of the q "ill leave that £20 there for pump 6 pet wink " Leaving Mickelle standing as if someones just asked to ram her oxo. frown awfull places.

Along with the people that are occupying the pump youve chosen to use, sitting patiently behind them as they get into there car.....14 fking years goes past before they move! im sure most of my foul language is used up behind these cretinous folk.

Boring, cold crap chore, and the answer isn't alternative fuels or eco cars that use less fuel, the answer is to build walls round the forecourt and have a bloody big tank in your car.....

No, it's an utterly miserably experience usually made worse by the 'weekly shopping' mongs at the mini-mart type ones. Pay-at-the-pump type ones should be a lot better, but the equipment is so bloody tiresome to use it's worse most of the time.

hmm. Maybe the act of filling the tank is lame but I get a strange satisfaction when I start the car and the gauge registers a full tank.lick

I know this is going to seem strange to some.

I hate them in so much as they're the routine over here every week or two!

However I do enjoy browsing around petrol stations abroad.. even if it's just driving through France or Germany, it's fun seeing different types of snack foods and drinks and so forth biggrin You never know what random special edition of a chocolate bar you might find wink

I remember the old 'fags 'n' fanbelts' petrol stations. They were OK.

The new M&S / Bean Cafe ones get on my tits though. Hate having to wait to pay for my petrol whilst Doris is buying her entire weekly shop! How would she like it if I drove into the Tesco store in my car!?!

I enjoy it. I get a glowing feeling every time I fill up. I get out my car and bask in the odd looks people give me. Its a good feeling knowing I'm going against the grain of societal norm in a perfectly legal and legitimate manner biggrin

Can't wait to get the little car on the road. I expect the funny looks to increase ten fold.

Not at all every week spent sitting behind other cars waiting for years while they mess around with something that doesn't even matter or have anything to do with filling there car up.

In the Volvo, diesel stations are just a chore.
In the Caterham (or Mustang if it ever runs again), petrol stations occasionally provide some interest as random people come and talk to me about the car.

I enjoy petrol stations!, Love the smell of petrol and it makes me happy knowing i've just given my car the juice it needs to make me smile biggrin

Edit, read that final line again and it sounds a bit dubious hehe

Slightly off topic, but why do most stations have a ten or twenty pound note taped to the window of the paying part of the shop?

I hate filling up with petrol.

It's such a chore, I always have to queue, it's flippin' expensive, there's always morons in front of me.

So I hate petrol stations.

I enjoy the feeling of having a full tank.

But I don't like refuelling.

Regardless of whether I need to be somewhere else or not, I always feel 'in a hurry' to get in and get out.

And if you ever need to purchase something 'motoring' related, they never seem to have the right grade of oil, the air line is out of order, or they've sold out of screenwash.

It's a bit of a waste of time, but i'm baffled by the people saying "it's the worst chore imaginable" or that they "hate" it.

It's a slightly irritating inconvenience, but that's about it.

It would be a damn sight less annoying if people read the little sign and realised that you do not have to use a pump that's on the same side as your filler cap.... in fact it's better if you don't cos when you stretch the hose to the other side you get all the free petrol inside it smile

Like others have said, I have no problem with pay at the pump petrol stations which make getting petrol more akin to a pitstop. What drives me insane is the small petrol stations with shops with people who put £10 of fuel in and spend ages in the shop after browsing magazines, buying coffees etc.

I absolutely hate it. I hate leaving work, at 7, in the pouring rain and dark, and having to go and stand outside holding some filthy freezing cold hose for a few minutes, to then go inside and get ripped off for it.

For me it ranks up there with having to hang out the washing!
if you are hanging the washing out in the pouring rain your doing it wrong
