Just a warning that a certain petrol garage in Oldswinford (near to Stourbridge) may be cloning cards/stealing card information We use a business card purely for fuel and only visit this one station and last week someone attempted to make several transactions for goods in the USA (each one at £1,400+). Fortunately Barclays noticed the odd behaviour, refused the transactions and informed us (card now cancelled).

Just thought I'd warn you all....and oddly a thanks to Barclays laugh

I remember something about people doing this and channeling millions to the Tamil Tigers.

I wonder when banks will actually bother with these tts instead of trying to punish online retailers with all kinds of bullst(PCI scanning anybody?). The only occasions my cards have been compromised is after filling up at certain petrol stations. Tip, if pay at pump is conveniently switched off go elsewhere.

Cheers for the heads-up. I was victim to this recently at a Esso garage on the Narborough Road into Leicester. Lloyds clocked it before I did.

Since then I am very choosy about where I fill up.

They never seem to be interested in where you think the card was cloned...

That's because they are incerrectly under the impression that it is your money that has been stolen, when, in reality, it is the bank's money that has been stolen.

happened to me. £800 was taken from my account in estonia ,via atm ,on the same day that i filled up in staffordshire. the bank did not pick it up.
the bank said i had to involve the police , which i did. they came round to my house drunk some tea , ate some biscuits but would or could not do any more even though it had to be the petrol station.took a few weeks to get my money back too.
i only ever pay by cash for petrol now

my sister has a business and a customer of hers tried to pay with what turned out to be a stolen card. she was asked to retain the card. she told their fraud department that she had very good ctv images of the person involved but they were not interested.

Paying by cash seems to be the only thing to do. Sad staate of affairs and seems to be getting far worse.
