It's a bit simplistic really. It reminds me a bit of that chippy Prescott series about class. There are still plenty of well paid professions where you can get into and do well regardless of background.

What's interesting is the "genetic element" discussed where more well off people are apparently having more able and intelligent children.

Are poorer people held back because they aren't given opportunities, aspiration, role models etc or are children from poorer backgrounds on average simply aren't as able? Sounds like social Darwinism. hehe

I think what's most important is giving your kids aspiration, opportunity and encouragement. Unfortunately, often children are held back by the parents own perception of where they belong and their own limitations.

watched it - reminds me of 'Jewish momma syndrome' - 'when you grow up, you gotta be a doctor, a laywer, a banker, or a politician' - well, I think the world has got far too many of these overpaid (and blatantly incompetant) members of the above professions already - and they spend their hardly-earned gains on really boring and irrelevant repetitive tat like 'flash' houses, cars, wes - whatever - they are basically half brain-dead mediocrities that are the root cause of the recent dive in human evolutionary potential - we need genius engineers, scientists and artists - not a cabal of 3rd-rate parasites -

Did anyone else notice the lack of "poor" white men?

The BBC really is minority obsessed.
