He's the guy that the BBC always (used to) wheel out to give a Christian viewpoint on religious news.

The media is always attracted to extremist views. It's far more entertaining than sensible, staid opinions.

Many of these types of individuals are borderline mental cases. Therefore, you don't have to look very hard to find odd or aberrant behaviour beneath the public image.

I remember one where i worked with my brother.

he was a reformed nutter that had found god and was now born again.

he had a young GF, the smallest sweatest little thing you have ever seen. he sat her in a chair at lunch time and preached at her how bad she was at the top of his voice. Needing the money i didn't step in, but i was ragin inside at this arse. However my brother usually the materialistic one tried to calm him down and point out that he wasn't being very nice. in a nice calm way, the guy just exploded claiming he was going to have my brother and me!

I was up for a bit of 'self defence' so i just said 'that's a good christian attitude you have there' at that he was raging and i just called his bluff. he was ranting spitting feathers spouting how he was the good person and a born again christian. Responding that i was a born again athyist really pushed him over the edge. But he was bluffing and pissed off.

99% of wife beaters are cowards!

There other halves usually have serious issues which cause them to be attracted to said nutter in the first instance.

Obviously, it is no excuse for the violence but fked up people do seem to attract other fked up people, even when it is very hidden.

This inside today`s edition of The Sun:

Imam a rapist

" One of Britain`s most respected Muslim ministers was behind bars last night for raping a boy of 12 and abusing another"

Aplologies for sounding off thread but I believe there is linkeage here. This just provides more ammunition for outspoken atheists etc.

There's no difference between someone who preaches a religion exists and one who preaches that it doesn't. They are all nutters who want people to follow their cause and no other.

As for banging the back end out of small boys, that is historical standard practice in the old/classic world.

probably is linkage fella, but mainly that weird sickos try and manipulate people into their minds cross-hairs to be taken advantage of.

i always find it disconcerting that the so called religious peeps seem to harbour the more extreme ideas of how to treat people, a lot of born again christians don't seem to be very christian!

I've never actually met a Christian. Oh, I've met plenty that go to church, and those fish symbols on their cars, even have prayer meetings in their houses, but I've never met one that makes a decent effort to follow ALL the rules He set out quite clearly. If they were making such an effort, they wouldn't even own cars, or houses for that matter.

Indeed. I tend to try and avoid dealing with religious people. Their judgement must be suspect in other areas too.

Not sure Jesus had a problem with people owning cars or houses. Might want to do a bit more reading of the Bible before you decide whether they are "true" Christians or not if you are rating people on car and house ownership wink

(And I'm not disagreeing that Sunday Christians exist - but do they harm you some how?)
