Driving past a Reliant Robin on the dual-carriageway early this morning, looks like sparks coming from the thing and a grinding sound, 'what the fk' I think to myself.

Using your brake disc as a tyre isn't recommended...


Just spoke to my dad there and he said he saw a shredded tyre at a roundabout a few miles before it. Beggars belief.

Saw a Mini (a real one, not an FWD BMW) being driven down the A38 with the n/s/r brake locked on and the tyre screeching along like a good'un. Wonder how far he got before it burst...

Indeed they are, hence it being able to drag a locked rear wheel along the road. They're nothing to do with BMW though

Two weeks ago my mate saw an 09 astra hit the central reservation at the corner house on the coast road Newcastle, probably doing 40 mph.

A mile and a half further on the driver noticed the smoke from the wheel arches and decided it was time to pull over.

If you took the wheel off and found a big enough brake disc with the right stud pattern, in theory it'd work...

last week saw a little 1.1 Kia towing (with one of those solid bars) a K11 Micra with it's front wheel locked

the wheel rim was wearing away, it still had the plastic wheeltrim on too, except for the bottom inch

that Merc is brilliant though, what a bloody idiot

Dont know if it would top any of the ones already posted, but i had to catch an aa tow truck once, towing a family's xsara picasso along, with one rear wheel locked, and the guy didnt even notice when the tyre exploded, so had to chase him and let our lass get his attention and point it out.

A few years ago I heard an awful clanking sound from the road past my house but got to the window too late to spot what was occurring. Two days later the weekly paper revealed all with its report of an old dear in a Metro who drove the eight miles from Chobham to Weybridge on a flat tyre, where she was pulled in by the police for a chat. Told them the car started 'making a noise' in Chobham so she turned up the radio to drown it out so she could continue on her journey. They're all out there.
