As per the topic title I'm looking for some advice on the best way to clean a leather steering wheel that has become a too shiney for my liking. Would soapy water and a brush work or would it do any harm to the overall finish?

I clean mine with warm water, a cloth and a bit of car interior shampoo. (oo-er)

Baby wipes are superb at cleaning leather. Finish with a small amount of leather food to keep it from going brittle

This, I always have a little rub with baby wipes, they are the most effective way to clean a car IMO!

If you can get soap flakes use them dissolved in warm water also works on leather upholstery without damaging it. A friend who does leather re-trims told me this I find it works well.

Guy over on SELOC swears by a 'Docktor Power' sponge and warm water to turn a shiny leather wheel back to a nice, grippy matte finish.
