I love wine, but the OH doesn't drink. I don't want to drink a whole bottle on my own at each sitting, nor do I want to leave a bottle open after drinking the first half as it deteriorates too much for the second half to be worth bothering with.

So, can anyone recommend a supplier of half bottles of good quality wine? Not the mass-produced stuff with chemical in, but the nicer wines from smaller, usually independent, vineyards?

Using one of these will mean your wine stays pretty good for a good few days - I've left it for up to a week and not noticed any discernible difference: http://www.vacuvin.com/Vacuum_Wine_Saver_286_270_2...

Probably more cost effective in the long run than buying half bottles.

You could try the Wine Society - the membership is about £40 for life, but you'll make that back in savings if you like nice wine.

Try www.laithwaites.co.uk
There's a choice of about a dozen different half bottles.

Stick to a wide range of decent wine and stop it/keep it properly as it should only ever be for a day or so surely?

When you think that it is sometimes appropriate to decant some reds way before drinking them (and thus really getting some air into them...) surely a Vacu top/stopper and finish off the next day?

HTH?

p s- find it very hard to not finish a bottle.....
