OK, its been a few weeks now since we had the 2.5% increase in VAT. Apart from the cost of motoring which is necessity for most people and very close to a lot PH'ers hearts, what effect has this increase had on you? Have you noticed any real effect, has it changed your spending habits in anyway?

Yep - I've put a break on large capital expenditures until I see how it's effecting my day-to-day living.

Way to go - the government is putting a brake on the economy.

On it's own it doesn't make much difference, but combined with increases in train fares, petrol and insurance it means I'll be buying next to nothing that's not vital for a while.

Having savings in the bank at the moment certainly does not make much sense. But what to do with the money instead?

Depending on how much you have.

1. Buy a TVR Chimaera
2. Buy a DB9 Volante
3. Buy an F430
