There seems to have been a fair bit of Group B reminiscence on here the last couple of weeks, which has led me to spend the odd happy hour on youtube when carpal tunnel begins to set in! Found this on my travels, apologies if it's been widely seen before (I imagine it might, considering it's Ari!).

Codriver = New pants

Ari = Ice in veins driving

Edited to fix link.

Why is it always the co-drives side of the car that gets a bit close to trees/posts/rocks?

Best story I heard from a co-driver calling the notes:

Fast left
Medium right
Slow right
Fast right
Medium left, medium left, MEDIUM LEFT.
Oh st!
Assume crash position!

My dad used to co-drive for my uncle in a mini- He used to have to get the pace notes laminated so he could wipe the sick off them!

No! that is a genuine metal cattle grid! there is one before 'that' one that they go through at over 100 mph and you hardly see it flash by!

Anyone got the clip where Ari tells the co-driver to shutup, then turns off the intercom? It's in a manta on a mickey mouse stage I think.

People always say it feels quicker/scarier from the passenger seat...

I bet that one did, especially!

I'm glad someone else has noticed... Last time we rolled it was my side that hit the bank and my side that went the 'long way over'.

The worst phrase I've ever heard a driver utter when I've got my head down babbling away like a loon was 'Watch out, this is gonna hurt!' hehe at which point I looked up (as you do) to see a tree interface with quelle surprise the front left quarter of the car. bd! nuts

At that point you pull your belts that bit tighter and brace for impact don't you? hehe

laugh That's awful!!

As for co-drivers, I don't think I'd like to be a co-driver in a rally car, but I'm pretty damn sure I wouldn't want to be Ari's co-driver. He seemed particularly lethal.

It's a strange one because I've only ever had one accident that hurt (my belts weren't tight enough) but once you realise you're strapped into a strong seat, wearing a bash hat, and surrounded by a big steel cage you actually feel quite safe!

I do know of co-drivers who have got out of cars before and refused to get back in because they're convinced there's going to be a big accident! hehe
