So last night I did the jailbreak on my PS3 and downloaded a modern warfare 2 patch.

I played in private match for an hour with my bro, then had a quick go in public matches (I didn't do anything dodgy to anybody). The thing is it got boring pretty quickly and I ended up just playing normally in FFA.

Is there anyway to get rid of the jailbreak now and put my system back to normal, or am I stuck with it until Sony brick it and I have to get a new one ?

Cheers, Smokey.

So basically, you jailbreak your PS3, go online with a MW2 cheat which you got 'bored of' and now you want to go back? I can understand people doing this so they can pirate games, but people who do it to go online and fk about with games and likely ruin it for everyone else? sorry, I just don't get why anyone wants to be an asshole.

Sure, I could be doing that, or I could be helping you with your problem. Which shall it be?

@ oakey. Yes that's right I wanted to cheat, course I did.

And as for "I'm not the one that wants to cheat etc." I can live with people thinking I cheat on a ps3, how do you feel about everybody knowing you threaten your own mum with swords, you've got no friends etc?

If you want to think I've done it to cheat fine, couldn't care less what you think.
Why would I want to get rid if I'm that desperate?

And as for the thread started about hackers, it's a bit different when their deleting things on your profile !

Yeh it's simple to get rid of the Jailbreakk all you need to do is download Sonys offical and current firmware for the PS3 3.55 onto your pc.
Then transfer that to a USB drive make, to do this make a folder called PS3 in the root directory then inside the PS3 folder make another one called UPDATE and thats folder where you should copy the update to. Then plug the USB into your PS3 and go to update via storage media, it will say you already have this software but click continue anyway and then job done.

Beware tho Sony still will know that have jailbroken your ps3 in the past.

If it works anything like custom firmware on the PSP, you'll have to reset all settings to default and firmware back to the original firmware the console came with, and then re-update from there using legitimate firmware.

If you don't mind me asking, is it a simple process to jailbreak now? No additional equipment etc required? Don't need any details, but I'm curious - I'm a big fan of pirating games, especially if I won't lose my online capabilities in others.

so you still did it, it still makes you just as bad as the other cheaters. They probably use the same excuse to justify their actions too. Going online with cheats is an asshole-ish thing to do. I don't think I was out of line for saying that. As for the personal comments, I couldn't care less so I doubt anyone else does either.

Yes it's really easy to jailbreak. But it's only been hacked for about 2 weeks so there's not much you can do yet.
And I wouldnt recommend doin it as Sony are planning on automatically updating PS3s and banning those that are jailbroke.
Not sure if you whould want to jailbreak it for pirated games seeing as downloading a game could be upto 50gigs.

I am getting the feeling that you dont win much in MW2 online battles.......and everyone who beats you has "cheated"....hehe

I think there is a way to do a factory reset on a PS3, cant remember what it is but I am sure google will help you with that.
