What engine in a new c class

Helping the other half order a company car and have decided on a C class, but not sure on what engine to get,
C180 petrol c200 petrol c220 diesel or c250 diesel. The price differences are minimal and it will not be covering a lot of miles which would be best to drive. (Will be an auto).

If an auto then go for the C250cdi, it is a peach and lots of fun.
Never sound as nice as a petrol, but 204bhp and feels rapid.
There is only .4 seconds between the C250cdi and C250cgi so not massive amounts.
By the way the new one is now out for order and there is only C180 and C250 in petrol engines and a much, much nicer interior.

Currently favouring the c250 petrol although its still a 1.8, I assume it has forced induction to improve the power over the c180 (is this supercharger or turbo). Shame there are no 6 cylinder petrol options.
Am considering a diesel but cant helping thinking a petrol car would be more refined.

Try the diesel, you might be surprised. The C250 CGI is Turbo IIRC.

Thanks for the replies, after more research (thanks for link to other thread) I have found about the c350 which is tempting but is the only car that does cost significantly more on her works scheme, so looks like its between the c250 diesel or petrol. The petrol costs about £20 less a month and due to low ish mileage would offset the possible extra in mpg.
So really comes down to which is the nicest drive. Only keeping it for a year so will probably try them both over time, but thinking we will start with the petrol one.

They have dropped that engine from the lineup. Agree it feels quite fast, I was in an old C180K not long ago and I was convinced it had to be at least a C240, I was shocked when I got out and saw the C180K badge on the back!Have they dropped the 1.8 supercharger 180k? or is this just re badged as the c250 in the new line up. (As the 250 has a 1.8 engine but makes very good power for such a small engine). Certainly adding to confusion and I don’t really fancy wasting dealers time trying to get to the bottom of it all.

How long is her commute? Snag with diesels generally, and Merc's in particular, is they take a lot of warming up - they do have electric heater boosters but the car doesn't feeled warmed through until it's done about 40 miles. If her typical journey is less than 10 miles I wouldn't take the diesel.
