Wishbones - repair or replace?

Weld it up or replace the box section with some solid bar.

ER! NO! Bar is weaker than tube especially in resisting torsional forces at that end of the wishbone. the rot is very localised and very minor, The correct fix would be to drill out the rot and then weld it up. that level of corrosion is really not worth replacement and a correctly drilled, welded and dressed repair will be invisible.Roy
The corrosion also appears to be in the direct centre of the section so really shouldn't compromise the strength of the section. it actually looks as if it has crept from the weld so my guess is that it was actually caused by weld recession into the steel which has thinned the section at that point when the wishbone was assembled.
