Firstly I calculate the below diet to be 1200-1350 calories: I drink about 1.5 litres of water a day and 4 pints of cider at the weekend. Cardio 35 mins at the gym 3 times a week, 2 lots of 20 minutes of weights a week. I walk a 3:5 mile 50 minute journey 3 times a week and don't usually eat past half 8 at night. I go straight from work to the gym, go home and have tea. I'll make it clear now, I do not have time to and won't eat 6 small meals a day. Typical day eating:

Breakfast 7am: 2 wheatabix and semi skimmed milk.

Snack 10am: Banana

Lunch 1pm: Tuna and sweetcorn with cucumber some times with one slice of wholemeal brown bread no butter/spread etc

Snack 4pm: Apple

Tea 6 or 8 pm (gym depending) something normal but relatively healthy, more often than not with some veg. I eat about two thirds at tea of what I used to. Do not have pudding.

I find my stomach rumbled occasionally but I drink some water and it goes away. Trying to go from 13.2 stone to 11.7 stone by may.

You'll surely lose weight on that? Sounds fine but what about variation. You can't eat the same each day until your target weight!

I find it enough in terms of keeping me going, I find I get hungry once or twice a day, but only because I'm used to crap, and like I said I drink water and the hunger stops.

Replace wheatabix with branflakes or shredded wheat and tuna for cold chicken. Different meal each night, varied enough.

There's a point where not eating enough leads the body to a starvation mode and everything from then on is stored as fat.

You're there already I suspect.

Losing weight really doesn't need to be about starving yourself.

The best thing you could do is invest in something like the ultimate diet from the nutrition god Lyle McDonald.

Well I guess I could eat more fruit and perhaps have a slice or two of toast with breafkfast however I'll feel ill if I eat much more that early, but I'm certainly not starving myself. Maybe I should add a yogurt and low fat crisps or some of those Rivita snacks to my lunch. Should bring me to 1500 calories a day. I don't want to have visibly big muscles, I just to be slim and healthy. I read recently that on average portion sizes have doubled in the last 60 years and this 6 times a day meal plan is not proven to be better than just 3.

Sounds more like an eating disorder to me, but each to their own. I certainly wouldn't fancy drinking cider on that empty a stomach.

Certainly makes for a much cheaper night... Recently a bottle of port on an empty stomach resulted in wobble, and no sick...

You've given no indication of your age, height, build, etc so impossible to say what you need but what you claim to be consuming is not balanced and insufficient. If you continue eating such a deficit of calories you will become less healthy - not more so.

What's working for the OH at the moment is:
No bread
No Pasta
No Carbs after lunch
No refined sugar

Breakfast:
Any no added sugar muesli cereal with natural yoghurt.

Lunch:
A "normal" portion of anything you like with either rice or potatoes

Dinner:
A "normal" portion of anything you like. Just no carbs!

(Normal being partly eat a bit slower and stop when you feel full rather than when the plate is empty)

1 piece of fruit between meals IF hungry.

Then gym 2 or 3 times a week. Once with a personal trainer to change the routine and make exercise more interesting.

It's working as well. Dress sizes are getting smaller, and energy levels are up... wink
