Daily Mail columnist Liz Jones in now trending worldwide on Twitter after she wrote this column on Jo Yeates' last known steps.

I can not believe it - I'm not going to ruin the surprise, just follow the link yourself. It's ridiculous.

Actually, sod it - here's an extract:

"I wish she had spent what were probably her last hours on earth somewhere lovelier. The food is awful (I ask for a veggie burger and it comes without the burger – and without the bun!) but the young women behind the bar are sweet with huge, wary eyes."

I can see a Jan Moir-esque storm on the horizon....

I would say that's about par for the course regarding the standards of Daily Mail journalism, but to be honest the article is so self-obsessed and insensitive it's almost unbelievable.

Again the Daily Mail has shown itself up as beyond parody.

I get the impression that they now just publish stories in order to generate hits to the website. Doesn't matter if they are good or bad, just how many eyes they get on their site (and it admittedly worked here)

Despicable.

Another completely bizarre and random column from one of the DM's journo's, written like a 9 year old on a school project.

I swear they recruit at the local MENCAP centre....

"I almost buy that upmarket pizza; the choice tells me Jo wanted a lovely life, something above the ordinary."

What a load of old toss, it's a pizza and symbolises nothing at all.

It's essentially: snobby woman goes to Clifton, strolls about, has a moan about bar food and the quality of the wine, feeling scared and not having enough money for the toll bridge, and tries to link it with the Yeates murder by way of some patronising faux-sentimental guff.

Dreadful piece, even by the Wail's standards.

I don't know why you think it's worthy of discussion. It's just stupid.

Its stupid. Why is it "a lovely life"? Its a 3 quid Pizza or something.

Silly article and can see it becoming the same as that one written by that Jan did.

There is now an angry queue behind me. Isn’t it interesting that you can snatch a young woman’s life away from her in the most violent, painful, frightening way possible, take away her future children, her future Christmases, take away everything she loves, and yet there are elaborate systems in place to ensure you do not cross a bridge for only 30 pence?
Words honestly fail me. This reads like it was written by a 13 year old with learning difficulties. A terrible idea very badly executed. The DM really is a load of old st.

By far the stupidest part of the article, and that's saying something!
I could have written this drivel.

It debases the poor girls life by linking it with some Hyacinth Bucketesq guff about aspirational pizza and bad burgers.

Not to mention the poor technical quality of the writing and the emotive "the young women behind the bar are sweet with huge, wary eyes" bks.

Indefeasibly insensitive.

Just generally a very sad piece of work, written by somebody with no sense of tact or human decency.

She just copied that from the Asda thread that was in The Lounge the other day.

Let us not forget

The theory is the killer took the long route from the flat to where he dumped the body to avoid the CCTV cameras. Perhaps he also wanted to avoid the 50p toll.

I don’t have 50p and try tossing 30p and a White Company button into the bucket. It doesn’t work.
