Nissan GTR's for sale
Discussion
A lot of supercars have owners who want them to try and then want the next thing so they get through 5 owners in the same or less number of years. Now I'm not suggesting the GTR is a supercar but it may have owners with a similar mindset; tried it, what's next.
That and maybe they are worried about depreciation when people realise how expensive these things are to repair, especially outside of warranty. 3 year old GTR? £10k bill for a 5mph bump, no thanks!!

Also - and this was from a Nissan salesman whilst I was test driving a used 350z - he reckoned that many owners were a bit overwhelmed by the performance.
Could be BS, but any car that can crack 4 seconds to 60 is a serious undertaking and I should imagine that as an 'addition to the family' to sit along side the 'sensible' car a GTR is quite a beast. And, as said, 15mpg, £1.5k for a set of tyres, the same for a set of brakes, I hear services are pretty silly, and being a heavy car I bet it goes through consumables pretty skippy.
I'd love one.

I remember that! How does a GTR compare to a 911 in terms of servicing cost/frequency, price of parts etc?

the GTR is REALLY easy to drive fast, no huge skills involved.... especially compared to other cars with similar performance so i don't think an average driver could be overwhelmed by it tbh. On the other hand, the running costs are indeed quite high vs its purchase price.
I thought that was the case and at the time read that the salesman had scared himself a few times whist out in a GTR - judging by the way he was wielding the 350z I'm not surprised...g3org3y said:

Still amazed by that GTR repair thing - its a Nissan for gods sake and they sell Micra's!

GT3/Turbo - 2 Years/20,000 Miles
Maybe its because theyre too good? I mean if your average person can get one to go very very fast, just think what some one with a decent set of driving skills could do? Youd be going at a franky ludicrous pace, which is not safe.
So you reign it in, to avoid the eventual cataclysmic crash you will have when something goes wrong, like a pothole, or someone pulling out on you etc. At this point youre no longer having fun, the car is still quick, but theres just no effort involved, no drama or sense of occasion, so you get bored, and buy a ferrari like everyone else.

GTR - 6 months/6,000 milesGT3/Turbo - 2 Years/20,000 Miles
06 Months/6k - £236.86 +vat
12 Months/12k -£472.76 +vat
18 Months/18k -£829.16 +vat
24 Months/24k -£657.01 +vat
30 Months/30k-£236.86 +vat
36 Months/36k-£1219.06 +vat
Consumables (indie prices)
£1100 a set of tyres
£1500 for all pads/disks?
Not sure how Porsche prices compare, though
Also, loads of people seem to be going for non-Nissan servicing. Surely this is going to preclude extended warranties once the car is a bit older? I don't think I'd want a GTR without a warranty of some sort covering it.

Could it also be something to do with the lack of dealers in the UK combined with the shockingness of the service available at some of them? Not naming any names, but I used to work for the MK branch of the dealer that sells them in the east of London. Their idea of customer care was disgusting.

This. I have sampled one and it makes the almost impossible easily attainable. It left me feeling cold about the whole experience.
Although i must admit, if I have the required folding, I would be very tempted!

GTR servicing at Nissan is excessive - see Litchfields and gtroc forum for reasonable service prices, where you won't affect warranty.
I came from an EvoX 330sst which was the best to thrash about quickly. GTR though is simply mentally fast, you do stupid speeds really easily. IMO now it's actually too fast for the normal roads, but great for track. So I'd think (like me) many people who buy and are not tracksters, have frightened the life out of themselves on normal roads, sit in traffic on the M25 etc every day, se it occasionally which is a blast but think what next? Then probably cave in to their wives who really want you to have a classic/known marque and don't care about the performance. So end up getting something with cachet rather than brutal functionality (albeit accessible that also can be docile).
Definitley worth having the experience though for a period rather than go straight for the common Porker ...IMO :-)

I would imagine the Evo X is a better all rounder, with narrower tyres it should be great mid winter. I suspect the GTR's steam roller tyres must make it a bit of a nightmare in winter? I also think the narrow body of an Evo would be better on UK country roads?Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
