Suggestions? Economical is just reasonable i.e. around 30mpg.

Diesel is not completely out of the question.

smaller car's preferably.

Linked to that (same immense engine)

For me, an absolute bargain:

On a run, my best mates Z4M gets upto 34 mpg. It's more economical than my Honda frown

Well, I know that an E46 M3 with the same engine can do 33mpg on a good run, and 25-30 around town. I would imagine that A Z4M is lighter, so you could probably better that.

The most I had out of my Z4M was 25mpg ... the lowest 18mpg. It is not economical .... but is good for what it is. It was the last car I expected to see mentioned in this thread ! I sold mine due to the costs and the gearbox (horrible). Spendid performance though biggrin

I doubt wanting around 30mpg in this instance means a possible 30mpg 'on a run'.

I do alot of hooning around, I can't see either of those beamers doing 30mpg when hooned alot.

I get around 27mpg out of my ibiza 1.8t currently to give you an idea of my driving style, the 1.8t isn't exactly an economical engine though.

I got similar out of my Leon Cupra and the M3 was on a par; they're amazingly frugal considering the performance on offer.
