Evening,

Due to circumstances today my Wife and I went for something quick for lunch in McDonalds, mainly because there wasn't anywhere else near (I can't even remember the last time I went).

I ordered a Big Tasty meal, naturally I turned down the large option rolleyes after I had finished I noticed on the box that they print the calories

yikes

Plus the 330 for a small fries.

I'm glad I got a diet coke hehe

Seriously though imagine the calories in a large meal with full fat coke and the Mcflurry that everybody seemed to be getting?

Not all that bad, depending on what else you have on the day. For example, you could have two of those burgers, plus two small fries, and you'd still be within the recommended daily calorie intake (2500) for a man.

But you'd be way over your recommended salt and fat intake.

Maccy D's haven't got anything on JD Wetherspoon though:

If they're not describing that as gutbusting value, they ought to be.

(Yes, it was very nice, and no, I didn't eat much the rest of the day.)

McDonalds get a lot of bad press and yes, it's not good to eat all the time. But, once in a while it won't hurt. I can cook up something a damn sight less healthy and it would pass most peoples "good-for-you" test.

Doesn't bode well for the kids eating there every evening though.

I'm glad they've got the Big Tasty back. It's the only thing I like at McDonalds. it does piss me off abit though, because they only have it on sale for about 5-6weeks before they have another 'limited' promotion on, or a seasonal promotion (like the festive menu/summer menu). I think in about 2months time they're going to do that xx-weeks of american burgers promotion again.

McDs calories are nothing compared to BK. all of their 'double' burgers (angus, whopper etc) are nearly 1000cals. subways footlong meatball marinara is 1022cals, and that isn't including cheese or using italian/hearty italian bread, OR adding condiments.

Yeah but if like most you have a varied diet, there will be plenty of days when you're well below your salt & fat intake. It'll average out.

People go on about fast food like it's evil or something. It's not. Sure, if you eat nothing but fast food every day you won't be very healthy. But then if you eat nothing but salad every day you won't be very healthy either... nobody says salad is evil (except me...) wink

Who fking cares? Honestly, have it as treat or whatever and it wont make you fat or unhealthy, relying on it every day will though but if you do that your a fkwit anyway so nobody cares if you get fat and die of a coronary!

Further to that, just do some bloody exercise and you can pretty much eat as much as you want anyway.

The amount of people who'll sneer at a Big Mac and then happily eat a pre-packed supermarket cheese and pickle sandwich with more calories is always mildly surprising.

Like most middle-class Dads I'll buy the occasional McDonalds happy meal for the kids...

and secretly woof down a burger before leaving the car park.
