Sorry, but here goes. S3C. Rough series of events :

Drove 150 miles trouble-free last weekend, running as sweet as a nut.

Put healthy car to bed last Sunday evening, garage is warm and dehumidified.

Removed old rear number plate light yesterday am and replaced with sparkling new replacement - managed to blow the fuse as I did so. Accessed the mass of prolapsed spaghetti underneath the glove box and replaced fuse. All electrics now in order.

Started car up and immediately it sounded awful - hunting between 700 and 900 rpm and then stalling. Rev to 2-3000rpm and sounds Ok but beyond that misfires before cutting out completely under load at approx 3,800rpm. On a short test drive Ok in this rev range only, interestingly the usual popping and banging on the over-run has disappeared.

I've rechecked all the electrics that I disturbed, also HT circuit seems fine as does the throttle pot - and yes the famous yellow connector seems to be healthily yellow and soundly connected.

So as the long-awaited sun goes down over the dry and deserted Romney Marsh roads I feel just a bit frustrated - any ideas ??

OOPS sorry - this is a TVR that won't have been spotted this weekend - was intended for S series forum.

Make sure you haven't disturbed the big multi-point connector into the side of the ECU. By "disturbed" I don't mean "taken apart" or even "touched", I mean "glanced at it the wrong way and made it a little nervous".

My engine runs fine, even with the ecu lying on the floor. but if I lift it, and turn it on edge, no matter how carefully, the engine splutters and dies. If I turn it flat again while it's still spluttering, it all evens out again as smooth as a baby's... Don't ask me, all I know is - it works fine in its normal operating position!

I would focus on the wires that you moved/disturbed/glanced at hehe as its likely you have a bad connection somewhere in the morass and you will need to find it and fix it...
I had a similar problem last year after I "tidied" the various bits of harness and eventually traced it to one of the 5-pin connectors (that have no function as far as I can see on a Tiv) and the supply to the engine management relay kept being interrupted as I bumped along the road or turned sharply or said something that upset it. I replaced the connectors and shortened the harness by quite a bit too and the problem went away (note I didnt say "cured"...)

anyway with the engine running OK, I would move/tug/wiggle each connection/harness/relay/ etc one at a time to see if you can determine where the problem is.

good luck
