I`m contemplating selling our ep3 civic type r to make way for a modus ive seen advertised locally.

Its a 1.5 diesel, air con, alloys, not sure on the mileage as ive not spoken to the vendor yet.....Its up for £3750

Has anyone got one?, What are they like to live with?, We have a two year old lad and living with the civic is becoming a bit of a pain (only 3 doors, poor mpg, high road tax etc)

I think i may be getting old as ive been researching their 5 star NCAP award and £30 road tax ...This is quite appealing.

Any input would be a help.

As far as I know, you have to remove the front bumper to replace the headlight bulbs if needed wobble

Never been in a Modus, but the 1.5 dCi engines are brilliant.

What output is it? 68hp, 86hp or 106hp?

wink

Fair enough if you want one, but surely an equivalent Clio is cheaper, but still has 5-star NCAP and the low tax?

Missus had a Megane with the 1.5 dci engine.

Turbo seized with less than 20,000 on the clock. Google Renault and EGR valve to read more. Seems it's a design fault that Renault will not admit to despite lots of customer issues.

She had 3 Renaults and they were all a bit crap. They are cheap and get good MPG, but I found this was offset by having to pay out for some biggish repairs, poor build quality, below-par interior plastics, electric window repairs ect (there are plenty of known issues).

I came to the conclusion that to sell them cheap, they had to be made cheap. If a clip could be made of metal, the french use plastic. If it could be made of plastic, the french would use cardboard. I decided that the only way to make running a Renault viable was to never run one outside of it's warranty. You'll see they are cheap on the used market - and it's for a reason.

Sorry to put a downer on your thread, just giving you my opinion. Others will be along to say they are fantastic and the bargain on the century.

Also the dealers are... well they are 'variable' is the best I can say on that subject.

Worst car I have driven. Big rolling, understeering, lack luster and uninvolving car going, it's up there with the Meriva.

Perhaps look at the 1.5 litre Nissan Note, you might need to up your budget a bit though - Its the same floor pan and engine I think.

I have read lots of good reviews, but I haven't tried one myself.

3 folk in work have a note and rave about them. They are all female non petrolheads though.
