Within the year I'll be purchasing 2 pick-ups for work.
We dont cover many miles per annum and for us reliability and performance are key issues over mpg.
So whats the best one
Nissan Navara
Mitsu L200
Isuzu Rodeo
Ford ranger/mazda BT50
Toyota Hilux
VW Amarok

Cant think of any others.....
assume budget no issue

I have had the navara and the L200 - I'm now on a Toyota Hilux invincible double cab 3 litre diesel auto and it's twice the truck the others were. I have heard good reports on the new VW - depends what you want out of it - the VW is definitely going to be the best on the road as far as driving/performance goes and the reliability should be good too. The Hilux is without doubt very well built, reliable, good on road and very robust/good offroad. I'd have to say the Hilux or the VW - both can have a very good spec if your budget allows. Leather, full screen nav, ipod, heated seats etc...

Nice position to be in - test drive both and get ya wallet out biggrin

If you don't put a Dodge Ram on that list, someone will be along in a minute and spend half of the thread telling you why you should have.

We've had two Hi-luxes in the past. . No matters with reliability even with fairly poor servicing.

Weve got 3 2008 Ford Rangers, all now about 70k - One had an electrical fault fixed under warranty - apart from that they have been faultless.

Its also worth noting that none of them needed tyres until over 60,000 miles and none have had any brake pads/discs. Servicing is usually £300 and are every 12.5k.

They have a very harsh ride and feels unrefined next to the Toyota and Nissan (despite being Thunder models), but as a work vehicle they have been great. If I was using one as a main family car as well as business, I would get the Toyota for the extra refinement.

I have heard a lot of good things about the Isuzu, but I haven't tried one myself.

We run 4 toyota hilux's and can only add to the general consesnus that they are bullet proof. I tow 1.5T on a daily basis in offroad conditions with a crew of 4 and they are great. Superwinch on the front which has had occasional use in self recovery situations. It gets noisey above 70mpg but you don't buy pickups for speed.

I have heard really good reviews about the new 3.0 rodeo. Sounds like quite a truck.
