Got any ammo.....please...
Discussion
My father-in-law, very generously and kindly has offered to buy my wife and I a new car as our(please dont laugh) citroen xsara 2.0hdi has cost us way too much in repairs this last year.(suprise suprise)
So we did our extensive research etc and we want to buy a Honda FRV.(we are a small but growing family, dont like 7 seaters, plus wife is afraid to drive them)
Our reasons for choosing Honda are obvious for those of us blessed with common sense, however my father in law is stuck on Ford C-Max.
So PHer's please give me your thoughts, and hopefully some ammo to attack the situation with, or convince me to go get a C-max.

Aw man, I know nothing!!
Thanks for your help. Every post made my wife laugh so hard.
I wouldn't say i'm being picky, just thinking 6 years down the line which car will have been more reliable.
Oh and my inlaws have a son spare but no daughters i'm afraid.
And what makes you think the Ford will be a money pit and the Honda will be bulletproof? Thanks for your help. Every post made my wife laugh so hard.

For every story of a 200,000 mile faultless Honda there will be a lemon that almost drove (boom boom) its owner to a mental hospital. Really, Honda aren't so far ahead of Ford that it is significant. I'd bet good money that the Ford will never let you down and wilk make you smile more. Dude, you've come from a Citroen FFS, you should have no reliability worries after that timebomb!

Ha ha yea thanks marcosgt, i may sound like a twonk but i'm concerned that he doesn't waste his money, typically I thought that Honda have greater reliability than Ford.
Although I do own a tranny, which has proven reliable...
What Car reliability survey 2010Although I do own a tranny, which has proven reliable...
1st Honda
14th Ford
(out of 32)
Still quite a gap between the two reliability wise.
I'd take the c-max. Supposed to be almost as good as a normal focus to drive and is decent looking for a biggish family car. I wouldnt worry about ford reliability either, I spent 2 years abusing a mk1 focus and apart from servicing and normal wear and tear I never had to have it repaired. It did 40k hard miles in that time but when I sold it, the first person to view it bought it and was very happy with his new purchase. I still miss that car, didnt cost much to run and was an absolute joy to own and drive.
So yeah, take the c-max. I doubt you will regret it.

Is it 2 Hondas out of ten thousand break down and 4 Fords?
ah dammit c-max is winning!
Thanks though guys
I'm open to other suggestions, not that i'm against the idea of a c-max, a little boring though?
Criteria is something big enough to fit my wife and I, 2 children in kiddy seats, big boot, and room for at least 1 passenger. And something not sluggish, so I can enjoy it. (or will i have to sacrifice fun?)
Thanks though guys
