Having been with my insurance company for ten years (sounds like Jootman Fames) and having never made a claim I get a renewal in the post with a 120% increase in premiums.

So I send them an email questioning the increase to which they don't respond. My wife calls them to ask them what the story is, they tell her it's because the underwriter is increasing their fees in line with the market. I call them and the guy tells me...' I told your wife all of this, and it took me a long time to get it through to her, the premium is not negotiable'.
I sent them another email voicing my disgust at the handling of the situation to which the didn't respond.
Then I notice that the renewal claims we only have 3 years NCB.....odd, so I call them. They say it's because we switched from a classic multicar policy (with them) to a tailored trade policy so they didn't carry the previous seven years (or the previous five years with another insurer) over to this policy. We wait for 21 minutes on the phone to get through to the Admin so we can speak to them...no one answerd the phone so we hung up and called back, to be told there was nothing we or they could do about it. Our new insurer was abviously concerned that the difference between three and seven (or five) years NCB may not swing the deal his way so he called them too. They confirmed that we had never made a claim in ten years, but would 'according to our procedures' only show three.
Having a look on a few sites, it would appear that this is not an uncommon occurance with Jootman Fames and that many clubs are switching their preferences elsewhere. Anyone on here had a similar story?

they can charge you what you like at renewal its their right. nothing wrong with it. sounds like they didn't do it tactfully though. just go elsewhere.

Regarding the premium, of course they can quote what they like, however the NCD thing is out of order if it wasn't advised when you previously changed policy.

I think the OP is upset more at the handling of his queries and the fact that his NCD has disappeared from beneath his nose,it should of been advised when he changed it i would think

Lots of insurance companies will happily 'mirror' your NCB, you need to get on the phone and start getting quotes.

My 'classic' policy was also tailored. It covered modern daily drivers, normal cars etc. From £529 to £1229 is just silly though.
