Spotted: Aston One-77 Customer Car

Pre-delivery road test proves even the M40 can be entertaining

Somebody, somewhere is about to have a very Happy New Year courtesy of Aston Martin.

In spite of the red sticky-backed plastic wrapping giving it a distinctly 'down-at-heel' disguise, this One-77 is not a development prototype. Nope, we're reliably informed by our factory sources that it's one of the first £1.2m customer cars undergoing road-testing prior to delivery.

The car was spotted and snapped by PHer Pete Graylish (judas) who said it sounded glorious. It's interesting to think that all the One-77 hypercars will get an outing on the M40 as part of the pre-delivery process, because for some cars headed to collectors it could be the only time they appear on the public road at all.

Apparently Aston has already sold 62 of the 77 examples it intends to build, even though no-one outside the factory has yet driven the car. Aston reports strong interest in the remaining 15 slots, but says it has a few potential customers who are reluctant to take the plunge without a test drive - so they'll be letting those lucky 'prospects' behind the wheel in the next few weeks.

Wonder if we'll ever get a go in one...

I'd imagine the red plastic is to protect the paint on the customers £1.2 million quid car.

Looks pretty nice in the flesh.

Question is:

Bugatti Veyron OR Aston One-77?

Yes I know people who are buying this, would prob have both in their collection anyway, etc, etc, however, given the choice, would be interesting to see which one the PHers would choose.

I would have to go for the Bugatti!

I was going to say it looked quite good in red but since it's just plastic I won't.

It's depressing to think that Aston's test team can't drive properly either...

I suppose they need to do a PDI on the car, which will included a 'shake down'. Imagine the embaressment of delivering the car to the customer, only to find something was wrong with it.

Was lucky enough to have a sit in one of these at the Aston factory last year, it felt huge.

It's probably the ultimate Aston, but it looks rather over-designed I have to say. Not my cup of tea for that silly amount of money. I'll take a Zonda f every day.

And that's just the thinking of the MLM isn't it? "Oh there's a lorry half a mile away so I won't pull over".

I wonder if Aston will take a C2 1.1 as a part exchange. Hmmmm.

But that image isn't out of the video clip, and in the clip he pulls back into the first lane without overtaking anything, doesn't he?

whats your point?

Or maybe it's David Beckham's new quality vinyl wrap colour scheme to replace that dazzling Porsche....

What you are not seeing in this *still* image is that the closing speed of the Aston will have it past the lorries, vans and tail-gating the cars in front in a matter of seconds...

If the sign at the start of the clip said A404 then the inside lane gets filtered off. If he was travelling further along the M40 he would be in the correct lane. HTH.

Edited to sort out duff quoting.

But the photographer (driver) is even more at fault if this is the case ?

Q is... if you worked for Aston, and had that chance to be behind the wheel of that thing on the 'test'.. would you risk your job/licence and be the first one to boot it up the motorway at warp speed and hear the engine roar driving.. what a story for the grand kids..

or you could just sit there and cruise off the exit, while you get filmed and overtaken by pete.. lol

I know which one I would do and its not the latter..
