Not sure why, but last night all the seasonal bonus races 1 and 2 were free tuning - so you could stick soft racing slicks on and win very easily. Ker-ching. Delighted to pass level 25 and see endurance races appear - I had thought that after all the effort of real time le mans, they had forgotten to put it in the game!

The first seasonal events were closed at 3am yesterday, however you're correct that the second set have been changed to free tuning, and the third set is also free.

...and thank God for that - Nascar at the Ring was really turning me off of the game. Sticking racing softs on makes it a lot more manageable with the Dual Shock controller.

sorry, that is what I meant! The RX7 Tsukuba race I had only managed to get within 3 seconds before in my Bathhurst R over 10 laps, but with free tuning I took the lead on lap 4. Hence clanger, they aren't supposed to be that easy!

With the new events I just stuck slicks on each car and won easily. No glory, but lots of money and experience points!

This is weird... but cool. Rattling through all them now.

Today's my first full day off, so didn't get a chance to do more than 2 of the first bonus races before they closed frown

with the hard slicks I was last first time (didn't see another car, then 10th, then 5th, but still don't know every corner too well. With the soft slicks I had a few excursions, spun completely twice but still won! Won the first bonus races properly on merit and the mini one from bonus racres 2, but bronze in others (5th nascar as I said), so when I realised all I had to was bang slicks on the cars I already had and collect lots of credits, I did! Then I thought it would only take an hour to do the new ones, so did those 2 - someone will realise a goof has been made and change the regs back, surely? Hope so anyway, don't want them all that easy (but the cash is welcome as I need something exotic to win the classic sports car race against those Chapparals.)

Why do people seem to think this is some kind of mistake on PD's side?

They have intentionally openend these events by changing the code. This first set came out limited tuning, then the second set limited tuning. Now they have released the third set unlimited and changed the second set. I don't for one minute think this change was anything but intentional, users have been complaining on various Sony forums about the events being too hard and that it is way too hard to level up xp in general.
I guess PD agreed and went the opposite direction completely with the special events. I wouldn't be surprised if the next set are also unlimited tuning.

Love that you can tune now.

I only managed 4th on the nascar one and it was annoying me so much! Hopefully I'll be able to win it now with some tuning.

But having said that, I only wanted to get to level 30 for the Red Bull challenge. Got to level 30 last night and fk me that challenge is hard!!

I've given up on the Seb Vettel challenge, had a quick go but using a six axis pad makes it impossible to drive an X1 let alone trying to get the right lap times.

Anyone else managed it on a controller.

yes did it using a normal controller. all in took probably 8 hours i reckon to do all 3 tracks. i nearly gave up when i got 0.013 secs slower than bronze around suzuka. in the end i got all bronzes but still got my red bull car. turn the aero up when you get it and it goes round corners even more mentally!! trust me, stick with it, it's certainly do-able. you get over 450k exp points for just bronze and a fair bit of cash. the car is insane with altered aero too. minimum aero it'll hit 302mph, with aero near full, i got round tokyo in 50.3 secs!!!

I assumed because like you say they changed the second set of events and as a result they became ridiculously easy. The third one too all you needed was soft slicks on each car and you won - so for 36,000 credits x 5 (plus purchase of necessary cars) you unlock millions more! Seems they rushed into it a bit, so maybe the next challenges will be set a bit harder, but not as hard as before. Why they don't just make the 1.5m credit event harder than the others with tuning limits I don't know...

PS - what is the Seb Vettel challenge?!

I'd like to see the restrictions kept relaxed but the more you add, the less prize money there is. IIRC Forza gives you less money when you use Auto, TC etc. Maybe set a BHP level and you get 1K less for each BHP you are over the level. Gives the good drivers a good incentive and those like me who are crap a chance of beating the challenge.

when you get to Aspec level 30 you unlock it in the special events. it's really tough but when you finally do it, you get what is easily the fastest car in the game by a country mile.

cheers, think I am level 25.

But why should people who admit themselves that they aren't very good be able to beat the challenges? It isn't a right! I had to work at that Dodge Charger round Indy event to crack it and that is why it was good, now it is just buys ome tyres, drive reasonably well and it is done. Am now spending more time in the actual game than on the challenges, whereas it was the other way round before. I think they should make the bonus events progressively more demanding, so that 1 of 5 bonus races is free mod'g but by the time you get to 5 it is quite tough. At the moment there is no point doing them in any order other than 5-4-3-2-1 as it is simply a cash collection exercise!

Difference is Special Events (in game) vs Season Special Events (via PD's updates). For me, some of the Seasonals were too hard (Focus ST / 2nd RX / Nascar challenges were the hardest, I only cleared them using Skid Recovery), but the others were spot on. Tricky, but doable with a little practice.

The restriction removals have made the Seasonals crazy easy and actually quite boring. Would have been better to have a halfway house, IMO.

The in game Specials are very tricky and all (except karting) take a little time to master. I'm currently stuck trying to get gold in the 8C on the Eiger World Tour event... 0.5sec off at the min frown
