Mooching though a cycle jumble and I spotted it - a Camapag Record hub, a rear one, 9-11sp, 28 hole. The asking price was a steal. All casual like, I said it was a pity the front wasn't with it. The guy slowly turned and pointed to a wall display and there it was. Anticipating an answer that would result in beans on toast dinners for a week, I asked the price. He said the front one was £1 if I bought the rear one at the asking price. You don't get offers like that every day, so I anticipated a catch. But they were new, the only down side was they were not the same year of manufacture - big deal.

I am now the owner of a bootiful pear of Campag 28s on Mavic Open Pros. (The rims took some finding). I used Sapim Leader Spokes for rigidity. The recent sales realised a pair of Michelin Pro 3s. The cassette is a Centaur 13-26, 10sp (Ebay).

Can't wait use them in the IoW randonee, or earlier if the opportunity comes. I got them shod with hacked out tyres at present to ride them in. Can't see them touching the road 'till April. Hope the local councils realise I need some quality roads to ride 'em on, so get repairing, you buggers!!

Nice. I have a pair of Dura Ace on Open 4CD front and Open Pro rear (after some numb nuts knocked me off and drove over the rear wheel). Must be 20 years old and still run like they are new.

Can't bring myself to sell them even though I don't use them anymore.
