I consider myself one of the lucky ones in the immune system lottery hehe

I rarely get ill, aside from the odd brief cold maybe once / twice a year if that.

Last illness I had that was not flu was the norovirus in 2007, and I had flu some time in 2001.

I am curious though, a lot of my friends and colleagues seem to get ill far more often than I do, so have I just been really, really lucky, or is my immune system just very good? I don't know much about that mechanisms of viruses, so am interested as to why I seem immune to most passing illnesses. My current theory is that I am Bruce Willis from "Unbreakable" hehe

Further to that, apart from having the vaccine, is there anything extra I can do to "prime" myself against this years flu virus?

I wonder the same thing.

I've seen my mom ill twice that I can remember and my dad has never had a day off due to sickness nor have I ever seen him in a state that'd warrant a day off. And I'm pretty similar hardly ever get colds or anything had 100% attendance through school and have only really had days off due to food poisoning and I used to get bad migraines for a few years which has now stopped.

The only thing I can see different to some of my friends that get ill a lot is that I have a much better diet, don't drink as much and exercise a hell of a lot more.

But of course it's actually because they just need to man up right?

I've never had 'flu. Most people I know have never had 'flu.

It's a tiny, tiny percentage of the population who have had influenza.

Most people who go to bed with 'flu actually have nothing more than a bad cold.
