I need a dog car
Discussion
I now have to put my two dogs (large spaniel sized) into the car to take them for a walk and they are trashing my nice cream interior with their muddy paws as well as being a complete pain to get into the back seats of the Jag. So I need a dog car (and general hack). Budget £3,000 and have been thinking of an aged Land Rover Freelander or some variety of old estate. Any thoughts or suggestions welcome!

What size car do you want, if its only for the the dogs any hatchback with the seats down would do?
I also want something that I could carry four adults in at the same time and something that is generally practical as a transporter. My current car is hopeless for anything other than moving two people quickly. Other thought was a bmw estatehi, had the same problem, decided on an old freelander, does the job fine but buy one that has had a new head gasket already, well known fault on these cars, then keep an eye on the cooling system, because if it over heats it will blow the gasket again.we have a large golden retriever which does fill the boot on he's own, but other than that my wife likes it. but i did only pay 1700 for it.
I'm selling a Renault Kangoo Trekka, although I'm probably too far away for you to want this one, they are just what you need. Admittedly they're fugly but, for a second or third car, they're seriously practical - 4wd, rubber mats so easy to clean after the dogs, seat five adults in comfort (no headroom issues!), sliding side doors so easy to load/unload in confined spaces and when you put the rear seats down they're just vans with windows and stacks of room.

They are still fugly though!

though the Aston Martin Bulldog is a possibility.
Slightly off topic but a bloke near me owned that, not sure if he's still go it or not. My best buddies Dad was a good friend of his. I remember going round his house about 25 years ago to see his collection, had three LP500's, a pink one with cerise interior and a cerise one with pink interior plus a pearl white one which was in the Guiness book for the fastest acceleration of a production car. Another vote for Forester- £3k will get you a decent enough one; -Practical with a big (&tall) boot , low sill for the doggies to jump in & for loading, 4wd can get most of the places a landie would with decent clearance (the non-turbo even has low range box), it's a hoot to drive - especially the turbo. Tough, decent build quality & reliable but not a car you get too precious about & if you look around you can find one with the goodies (leather, weather pack, etc) still within budget. Ours was the best all-round dog car we've had & fitted a Newfoundland (& assorted canine colleagues in comfortably) - we found, good as it is, the V70 boot wasn't tall enough.
